About Us

Our purpose is to nurture a sense of belonging, cultivate meaningful relationships with people of all ages, and unite for a healthy future.

Since 1994, the Siskiyou Family YMCA has focused on providing a safe space that is welcoming to everyone, where families can come together to play, learn, and improve quality of life. We strive to empower our young people, improve health and well-being, and inspire positive action in and across our community. We know that a strong community can only be achieved when we invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors. By bringing together people from different backgrounds, perspectives and generations, we ensure that all have access to the opportunities, relationships and resources necessary to learn, grow and thrive.

Our goal is to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to develop in a safe and positive environment. We offer a variety of activities and programs that focus on physical and mental well-being, education, and community service. We believe that everyone should have the chance to succeed and make a positive impact in the world, regardless of ability, age, ethnicity, faith, income, etc. By bringing people together from different backgrounds, perspectives, and generations, we ensure that all have access to the opportunities, relationships and resources needed to grow and thrive. The Y does not turn anyone away for their inability to pay.

The Siskiyou Family YMCA is guided by our core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility—values that compel us to recognize the value of every person. When you are part of a Y, you become part of a supportive and inspiring community. You will also have access to resources and activities that promote physical and mental wellness, as well as opportunities to give back and make a positive impact in your community. Joining the Y is a great way to be part of a caring and committed organization that is actively making a difference in the world.

The Siskiyou Family YMCA is taking great steps towards creating a more equitable and inclusive society. We have the power to make a difference by taking action. Let’s work together to find innovative solutions that will positively impact the lives of those who are struggling with food insecurity, health disparities, inequities, social isolation, and learning gaps. Together, we can make a real difference.

Taking the YMCA from a Place to a Purpose

Our History

Leah F. McConnell (1905-1995) was a business woman and philanthropist who changed the face of Northern California. In 1964, together with her husband, Carl, Mrs. McConnell established a foundation that distributed grants and gifts worth millions to various causes in Shasta and Siskiyou counties. Through her generosity, the Siskiyou YMCA was born.

2023 Benefit Report

In 2023, we served more than 4,700 people in Siskiyou County, providing $49,814 in financial assistance and subsidies for children, youth and families. We bring together people of all ages and genders, people of all faiths, backgrounds and incomes. Scholarships, subsidies and outreach provide critical access to families in need.

We are so grateful for the dedication of our Board! Their commitment to making our community a better place is invaluable; we could not do the great work we do without their generous contributions.

Giving Opportunities

Thank you for considering a donation to the Y! Your generosity will make a tangible difference in the lives of those in our community who are struggling. Every little bit counts and will go a long way towards creating a better future for our community. Thank you for your kind support!

Leadership Team

Our staff is one of our most valuable and important resources. They are knowledgeable, hardworking, creative, and dedicated to providing the best service possible.

State of the Art Facilities

We have something for everyone here at the Siskiyou Family YMCA. Even though we are a small community, we carry a wide selection of top-of-the-line exercise machines, from treadmills and stationary bikes to ellipticals and rowing machines. Cleanliness is a top priority—our facilities and equipment are cleaned regularly.
